Flannel Lanterns

My daughter is rarely at a loss for words. We've lost count of how many actual words she seems to know and use correctly but one word I do hear frequently is "pretty", usually in reference to herself while smoothing down her sparse hair. So when I came home from the fabric store and pulled out this bit of flannel to her squeals of "priddy priddy priddy!", I knew I had to turn it into something just for her.

Flannel can get a bit mangy after some wash and wear so I returned to the workhorse tan corduroy and reversible pant pattern and came up with these flannel lined cords for winter. She can wear them lantern side out for now and when I can no longer bear to look at a pilly mess, I can flip them and zen out to the calming neutral.

I like knowing that she will be snug and warm on a snowy day, wearing something I made that she finds "priddy".
