blooming button down

I wanted to get photos of Miss Loodyloo in her new button down flower shirt but she had reached her limits today. This project certainly tested mine -- lots of button holes, set in sleeves, peter pan collar -- but I think I came out of it all right.

The buttons are slightly off center, or maybe that's the collar's problem, and I still am not satisfied with the finishing on the collar attachment but I can live with it. Ideally, I'd like to find a way to contain the raw ends without having to resort to making the dreaded bias tape again. The pattern is #13 from this book, sized 90 cm. She will wear it, eventually.

Would you be so kind and tell me where you got this fabric? I love it, and my little one would look great in this coat. It must match to everything. Is it corduroy? I hope you don't mind but I posted a link to your website. I cannot wait until my daughter is big enough for the japanese patterns. I own alot of them.

sewpink --
The fabric is a lightweight cotton which makes this more like a shirt than a jacket ,though you could easily do it in a soft cord. That would be lovely.
I picked up the fabric at my local Joann Fabrics store (and couldn't believe my luck!). The selvedge didn't list a designer -- sorry!
I understand your impatience -- that 100 cm mark opens up a whole new world.

The book has sizing up to 100 cm which is about a long size 3T. It's a Japanese book so the patterns tend to fit slim kids better. Here's the link to the book with more info:

Thanks for stopping by and please feel free to comment -- I love reading them.  However, please do not use my images and/or text without asking my permission first. Thank you.
