fall batwing coat

We have color in the trees, a chill in the air, and quickly fading afternoon light -- it must be autumn. Miss Loodyloo likes to make the most of her time outside with dad before dinner and last year's fall play coat has seen better days. Enter pattern #20 from Basic Style -- I call it the batwing coat...

Wide enough to accommodate the fattest Meme sweater, yet with proper sleeves for less interference when strawberry scrounging or throwing balls. She likes it, or at least doesn't fight when I put it on her.
The loosely woven boucle I chose for the outer layer was a challenge. At one point I foolishly thought to line it in a cozy knit but quickly, and luckily, realized two vastly different stretchy fabrics were not a good idea. I squeaked the lining out of a yard of cotton from the stash instead. I also should have paid more attention to what the line drawings were trying to tell me, especially about attaching the hood, but my guesses worked just as well.
At 100 cm, it's a bit big, but that's a good thing -- perhaps this coat will make it through next fall as well.
