more velveteens please...

Without parental intervention. Miss Loodyloo would happily wear her orange velveteen pants every hour of every day. After two days, I realized the girl needed another pair if I had any chance of washing them without a toddler meltdown, and so I made these in cocoa bean brown. The color goes so well with everything and the weight of these pants is perfect for cold weather.

A bit fancier with some embroidery on the cuffs and simple patch pockets on the back. It worked out so well, I went back and added some embroidered leaves to the orange pair too. I did keep the front pockets from the original design as the Loo has recently become fond of shoving her hands in there "like big girls do". What big girls? Where did that come from??
Aren't these wooden shoes great? I brought them back from Amsterdam about 15 years ago, long before I had any thoughts of having a child. I bought the tiny ones because that's all I could afford at the time and they've been part of my holiday decorating ever since. It's a European thing -- you put sugar cubes and hay in them for Pere Noel's reindeer -- but the Loo has claimed them as "slippers" this year.
They're still too big for her so I think we'll leave them out for dress up next year as she's having a blast shuffling around in loud clunky clogs. Clompity! Clomp! Clomp! Look at Loody Go!
