Valentine's day.I find it an uncomfortable holiday to encourage my kid to celebrate. It's fraught with potential disappointments, snubs and hurt feelings and that can happen all before romantic love comes into play (much! please!) later on. So, I'm trying to keep it light. And playful. And little. Because really, Valentine's Day is about big people and their big feelings, and I don't feel like I need to rush her into that minefield anytime soon.
So. Here's a little, light, playful project that I found on Oliver + S's blog: bow hair ties. I used a charm pack of 'Summerville' by Lu Summers from Moda but my 5" squares were too small even though Liesl recommends a 5"x5" scrap in her pattern. No big deal, I just trimmed the template to fit my fabric.
It's quick, it's fun. It uses scraps (yay!)-- it's essentially free -- and it's not too late to get a few done for the little loves in your life.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone.
